[16p-D519-2] Damage Process of Nucleotide Molecules in Liquid Water by Ion Beam

In this study, to elucidate the damage process of biomolecules in particle beam cancer therapy using ion beams, we report experimental results on the damage process of nucleotide molecules by carbon ion beams in the Bragg peak region. To investigate the effect of liquid water on molecular damage, we performed secondary ion mass spectrometry with a fast ion beam using an aqueous solution and a solid target of uridine. The results obtained indicate that there is a molecular damage process influenced by liquid water.
