自発的配向分極（SOP）は有機EL材料をはじめとした多くの非晶質有機蒸着膜において見られる一般的な現象である。有機EL素子のような積層型素子において、SOPはヘテロ界面に一定密度の分極電荷を誘起し、電荷注入・蓄積特性に影響を及ぼす。したがって、SOPの制御と最適化が素子性能の向上に向けた課題となる。本講演では、SOPの形成機構に関する現在の理解を概観し、有機EL素子特性との関連について最近の研究成果を中心に紹介する。
