[16p-PB03-16] Fractal open microfluidic channels for transporting and collecting low surface tension liquids

Fractal open microfluidic channels that have a large number of hydrophilic channels with hierarchical branching on the hydrophobic surface can collect aqueous droplets efficiently. However, they are not suitable for the collection of low surface tension, non-polar liquids such as hydrocarbons. In this study, glass surfaces coated with oleophilic silicone nanofilaments with microscale roughness were patterned using PFOTS with low surface tension to create the olephilic/oleophobic patterns. Using the fabricated fractal open microfluidic channels, we succeeded in collecting low surface tension liquids.
