In recent years, AMS has introduced a technique of laser photo-detachment that effectively removes isobars using an 'ion cooler' that makes use of the difference between the interaction of ions and lasers (photons). This technique has enabled highly sensitive measurement of previously unmeasurable nuclides in AMS. In addition, the developments of this measurement technique and the chemical separation technique have made it possible to measure 90Sr (half-life 28.9 years) and 135Cs (half-life 2.3 x 106 years) with AMS. This presentation will mainly focus on developing a highly sensitive 90Sr analysis technique utilizing the laser photo-detachment method equipped in the 3MV AMS at the University of Vienna. Furthermore, the feasibility of 90Sr AMS at facilities in Japan will be discussed.
