Rare earth based high temperature superconducting (HTS) tape, since it has a thin superconducting layer on a high strength metal substrate, it has excellent flexibility compared with such as bismuth based HTS tape. However, due to the limitation of the size of fixtures, the test method for continuously bending properties of small diameters, which is lower than the diameter 10 mm, has not been well established. In this study, the wire shape when the loop-like bending was applied to the rare earth based HTS tape was analyzed, and the applicability as a novel continuous bending test method including the small diameter region was examined.
