[17p-PA01-8] Fabrication of enlarged model to understand the principle of vernier caliper for the 1st year University students

“Engineering Science Laboratory I” in Chubu Univ. is one of the classes for the 1st year students of the College of Engineering. We carried out new practical exercise to fabricate an enlarged model of a vernier caliper, in order to understand how to use vernier scale. Here, students fabricated 10-times enlarged “vernier scale ( specified in JIS )” on a 1 mm graph paper and actually use this scale to measure the length. In this presentation we will also report the results of questionnaires in this exercise which students filled in after the class.
