In the field of optical fiber sensors, Brillouin optical correlation-domain reflectometry (BOCDR) is know as a unique technique for distributed strain and temperature sensing. The spatial resolution of BOCDR is theoretically in inverse proportion to two parameters: the modulation frequency and the modulation amplitude. In this study, we investigate the improvement in spatial resolution by varying one of these parameters while holding the other constant. Based on the result, we provide guideline for optimizing the spatial resolution of BOCDR by manipulating these two modulation parameters.
