Keywords:scintillator, single crystal

In this study, Ca(Nb,Ta)2O6 single crystals were prepared by adding Ta, an element allied to Nb, to CaNb2O6, which has been reported to exhibit strong blue luminescence, and their photoluminescence and scintillation properties were evaluated. In the scintillation spectra, an emission band originating from the charge transfer transition from O2- to Nb5+ ions of NbO6 was observed around 400-600 nm.
