Bioabsorbable polymers are useful as materials for medical devices used in the body, and development of precision processing technology for device miniaturization is underway [1,2]. In particular, microneedles made of bioabsorbable polymers have attracted attention as a minimally invasive transdermal drug delivery technology from the viewpoint of safety. Our research group has molded high-aspect ratio microneedles and investigated their potential medical application as a measurement device.
In this report, we describe basic experiments on laser light coupling to microneedles in order to obtain knowledge on the sensitivity and resolution of optical detection that can be achieved with this method.
