[18p-A302-2] Generation of new information by the brain
Keywords:conditioning, inference, abstraction
Animals can adapt to their environment through "instinctive behavior" and "learning. Furthermore, animals with complex nervous systems can combine already acquired stimulus-stimulus and stimulus-response associations to produce more flexible behaviors without direct experience. In this talk, I will focus on higher-order conditioning and reasoning with abstract concepts as functions to produce appropriate behavior in an environment that has not been directly experienced, and will consider the underlying neural and psychological mechanisms.
