[18p-A402-5] The difficulty of being a role model

Yukari Katsura1,2 (1.NIMS, 2.RIKEN)

Keywords:Female researchers, Gender, Diversity

Because there are so few female researchers in the field of applied physics, we are often asked to serve as role models. Giving lectures on one's own life as a researcher and on raising children can be helpful to young researchers, but there are risks for the speakers, and it is also difficult to reconcile this with the concept of gender equality. These difficulties will be introduced with an enjoyable mix of experiences from the speaker's own life as a researcher and raising children.
