We fabricated micron size biodevices using diatom frustules. Diatom is one of the major photosynthetic plantkons. Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) or papain enzyme were attached on purified frustule surfaces that were obtained from isolated diatom cells. The fabricated optical device and enzyme device were reusable by recovering.
