The objective of this study was to identify the effect of IGF1 gene on body weight in Kejobong goat at weaning age. A total 35 sample of Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) and body weight records belonged to Kejobong goat were collected. IGF1 gene was amplified from DNA template using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method then were sequenced to find out the Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP). Body weights of the goats were measured at 64-79, 80-95, 96-111 and 112-127 days old. Association between SNP and body weight was analyzed using Linear Mixed Model. A SNP was found in intron 4 (g5752G>C), genotyped into GG and GC and had significantly associated with body weight. The goats with GG genotype had significantly higher body weight (P<0.05) than those with GC genotype in last two periods. In conclusion, A SNP in intron 4 of IGF1 gene had effect on body weight and can be used as one of genetic markers candidate for body weight improvement in Kejobong goat.
