[V-16-18] Basic research on growth improvement of immunosynbiotic
[Purpose] Immunosynbiotics, the combination of Lactobacillus (immunobiotics) and wakame (immunoprebiotics) were promoted to be positive candidates as an alternative for antibiotics in livestock production. To ensure a certain amount of live immunobiotics when administered to porcine, the growth of Lactobacillus in wakame-based broth should be improved. In this research, the growth of several species of lactobacilli with selected supplements will be investigated.[Methods] Utilization ability of different strains in enzyme-treated wakame broth and consumption of sugar were analyzed by OD, bacterial colony counting and thin-layer chromatography. Morphology during growth in wakame broth was observed.[Results] Utilization of saccharides in wakame broth and the need for vitamins were strain-dependent. Different strains showed various growth patterns with the presence of vitamin B. These results indicated the possibility of better growth of lactobacilli in wakame broth and the development of novel immunosynbiotics.
