[S12-4] Research activities in Vietnam Research Station in Hanoi

The Vietnam Research station, Institute of Tropical Medicine, Nagasaki University, was established in 2005, in the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Vietnam (NIHE) for the aim of clinical and epidemiological research on Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases granted by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Technology of Japan. Since 2015, the project has been taken over to the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) and a new five-year project, "Study on Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases in Vietnam." has been started from 2020.Our main research topics are dengue fever, infectious diarrhea, drug-resistant bacteria, severe childhood pneumonia, and zoonotic diseases (bat-derived infectious diseases), and SARS-CoV-2 infection (COVID-19) are included to study to contribute to prevention of infectious diseases. In this symposium, the research for drug-resistant bacteria, infectious diarrhea, dengue virus and SARS-CoV-2 will be introduced.
