[I-240] Cumulative inelastic deformation (CID) and Cumulative fatigue damage (D) of hysteretic-type seismic dampers
Keywords:Buckling-restrained barace, Performace verification method, Lowcycle fatigue, Loading protocol of CID
One of the most effective ways for seismic performance upgrading of steel bridges is now to install seismic dampers in bridges. For hysteretic-type seismic dampers high performance deformation as well as low-cycle fatigue capacities are required. Two methods exist now for evaluating low-cycle fatigue capacity, i.e. Cumulative Inelastic Deformation (CID) and Cumulative Fatigue Damage (D) methods. However the relation between those two methods is not clear yet. The purpose of this study is to clarify the relation and propose a rational loading protocol for CID.
