[I-293] Charpy Absorbed Energy of Cold Press-Bent Steel Plates Made of SBHS400

Cold press-bent structure is a possible solution to the rupture of the welded joints under unexpected loading condition. However, strain aging effect leads to a reduced toughness, an increased hardness, and other adverse effects. One of the major features of SBHS400 is high toughness. Therefore, the effect of strain aging on SBHS400 was evaluated through conducting Charpy impact test and vicker’s hardness test on the test pieces taken from the maximum curvature of the corner part. The results showed that no significant change in Charpy absorbed energy and hardness can be observed after one year, which indicates that SBHS may be a potentially good fit for cold-forming.
