In order to apply ductile iron to large-scale structures such as bridges, it is important to quantitatively understand the corrosion behavior in the atmospheric environment. Previous research has shown that the corrosion rate of ductile iron in atmospheric environment is slower than that of ordinary steel, and it is possible that the early corrosion of ductile iron progresses earlier than ordinary steel, resulting in the formation of a dense rust layer. In this study, we conducted an air exposure test of ductile iron, and focused on rust of ductile iron generated in the atmospheric environment, and evaluated using electrochemical analysis, elemental analysis, X-ray analysis, etc.
