[I-445] Bending performance verification of steel sheet piles longitudinally connected by improved reinforcing plate
Keywords:Sheet Pile, Vertical Connecting, Welding
When driving steel sheet piles into the ground where there is low overhead clearance or the transportation restriction, longitudinal jointing is needed to join short steel sheet piles in the axial direction. In general, vertical connecting is carried out by welding on site, in which a reinforcing plate is attached by fillet welding. However, as the cross-section of steel sheet piles becomes bigger recently, the web reinforcement plate becomes larger, which leads to a decrease in workability due to a prolonged welding time. From such a background, the bending performance of the longitudinally connected steel sheet piles was verified for the lightweight design of the reinforcement plates.
