[II-129] Study on debris flow torrent flowing into residential area and considering countermeasures
Keywords:debris flow, torrent width, residential area, structural countermeasures, culverts, numerical simulation
Debris flows damage occur in residential area. When debris flow torrent flowing into residential area, torrent width often become smaller comparing to upstream. However, debris flow torrents actual conditions area are not clear. In this study, we conducted DEM and GIS analysis and field surveys, and found that many torrents exit are often concealed with culverts upstream of the residential area and most of them are blocked when debris flows occur. We conducted debris flow simulations and showed residential area should consider not only sediment but water behavior for disaster reductions.
