[II-67] Experimental study and numerical simulation on wave overtopping and run-up at quay-wall in high-tide condition
Keywords:quay-wall, storm surge, wave overtopping, wave run-up, inundation, Boussinesq model
On quay-wall, it may be difficult to estimate an inundation area with a time-averaged wave overtopping volume because a part of wave overtopping volume must flow down with a back wave. In this study, the run-up heights on backyard behind quay-wall at each relative tidal level are investigated through conducting a series of model experiments. The run-up height can be estimated with an experimental formula on a slope while the moving shoreline is appeared in backyard. However, the run-up height due to wave overtopping becomes larger. These results can be reproduced well by numerical simulations with a modified Boussinesq model, though the run-up heights due to wave overtopping are little underestimated.
