In the rock tunnel, there are many cases where we encounter ground conditions that are very different from the original assumption. As a result, the change of support systems and/or excavation method are required. We analyzed the advancing boring data obtained in the tunnel in Hokkaido and examined the current rock mass classification. As a result, it showed that there is a possibility that the degree of coincidence can be increased by selecting the evaluation item used in the current rock mass classification and reviewing the threshold value.
