[III-431] Strength and friction characteristics of Shirasu
Keywords:Shirasu, Frictional resistance, Box shear test, Excavation, Jamming, Strength parameters
Brace and boring in a shield machine, and jamming in pile driving are phenomena in which digging can not be performed due to the restraint of the ground around the excavation.
For example, it is known that such a phenomenon occurs notably as represented by the ground of Shirasu in Kagoshima.
Therefore, in this report, the primary shirassu of Kagoshima is collected, and in order to grasp the strength characteristics and elucidate the mechanism of those, focusing on the friction characteristics and focusing on the friction characteristics, metal plates and plastics considered as tools such as drilling etc. The friction test was conducted using a plate and a single shear device of Shirasu.
