[III-473] A study on the stability of the slope with soft surface under rainfall
Keywords:needle penetration test, seepage-deformation coupled analysis, historical burial mound
In the present study, the deformation of a slope under rainfall was studied. Some in situ tests proved that the surface of the slope was disturbed and soft, and therefore the numerical model and parameters were prepared based on the test results. A series of numerical analysis showed that deformation is controlled by the permeability of the surface, and numerically obtained failure mode is consistent with actual one for the case that surface permeability is greater than that of deep portion. This indicates that for accurate stability analysis on the surface of slopes, it is required to distinguish the mechanical properties of the surface and deep portions based on geotechinical investigations.
