[IV-36] Preparation of Modernization Heritage Illustrations for Urban Development

The cities in the regions are constantly suffering from the effects of chronic reduction in population, low birth rate and high aging, and flow of mainly the young working population to the major urban centers. Among these measures there is interest in utilizing historical culture as local identity, and one of these measures that is being implemented in many locations is utilization of modernization heritage. This paper describes an example of urban development utilizing modernization heritage carried out in 2018 in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture, and its results. The aims and expected results are discussed based on illustrations of modernization heritage remaining.
