[V-251] Reproduction Experiment for Interior Horizontal Cracks of RC Slabs Generated by Frost Damage
Keywords:Frost damage, RC slab, Horizontal crack, Reproduction, Experiment
The reproduction of horizontal cracks was attempted in an experiment in which a large RC slab was used for the specimen and frost damage were applied on a single surface of this slab. Horizontal cracks were successfully reproduced in this experiment. Based on the data for the internal temperatures of the slab and concrete strain, it was suggested that the following are possible. (1)Cooling was applied only on the top surface; therefore, the top surface froze first and the interior layer of the slab remained unfrozen for some time. (2) When this interior layer froze later than the top surface layer, ice lenses were formed and the ice lenses eventually developed into horizontal cracks.
