[V-256] Practical Study for replacement of precast concrete barriers
Keywords:barriers, stiff barriers, precast concrete, post installed anchor, collision test
Part of concrete barriers are strengthened by steel cover plates due to revision of design loads and specs of specification. However, serious corrosion occurred by salt attack due to spreading snow melting agents in winter season. Therefore it is necessary to replace these inadequate barriers into new ones. In this research, a new type of precast concrete barriers has been developed. It has a connection by using post install headed anchors between existing slab and walls. In addition, perforated steel plate dowels connections are newly used longitudinally between each barrier. This paper describes the results of statically push over loading tests and collision test for developed concrete barriers.
