Global trends in health and safety from design stage
Labor accidents in the construction industry in Japan have seen a significant decline in the long term, with about 300 deaths in 2017. However, 1) that construction industry accounts for more than 30 persent of the deaths in all industries, 2) The number of deaths per 100,000 construction workers in Japan is about two to three times higher compared to the UK. Recently, it has become a global trend to consider health and safety from the early design stages of construction project planning. In this paper, we illustrate the measures for occupational safety and health considerations from the design stage in the United Kingdom and germany.
