[VI-458] Estimation of Compressive Strength in the Ground Ahead of Tunnel Face Using Damping Pressure Pulsation of Hydraulic Rock Drill
Keywords:Hydraulic Rock Drill, Dumping Pressure, Pressure Pulsation, Uniaxial Compressive Strength
Focusing on the fact that repulsive force of ground is absorbed by the damping pressure in hydraulic drifter when excavating the ground using a rock drill, we carried out drilling experiment using specimens with known compressive strength. It was shown that there is a correlation between the pulsation amplitude of the damping pressure and compressive strength. We proposed "normalized damping pressure pulsation amplitude" where pulsation amplitude of damping pressure is divided by percussive pressure as an index for ground evaluation. We confirmed that the index has better correlation with compressive strength, and showed that the index is effective for predicting the strength of ground.
