[VI-71] Estimation of seismic wave velocity ahead of tunnel face by reflection method and a case study
Keywords:mountain tunnle, prediction ahead of the tunnel face, reflrection method, velocity
We have been developing a prediction system (TFT exploration) by reflection method using excavation blasting as a seismic wave source under mountain tunnel construction.
However, the issue of this method is that although the position of the reflector can be identified, quantitative indicators such as the strength of faults corresponding to the reflector can’t be obtained.
Therefore, we developed a method to estimate the geological condition ahead of the tunnel face by calculating the seismic wave velocity. Furthermore, the method was applied at the actual tunnel site, and the seismic wave velocity was calculated and compared with the actual results. And it was confirmed that good data were obtained.
