[VI-835] A note on optimal cleaning strategy for pumping wells in water resource using stochastic control theory
Keywords:pumping well in water resource, cleaning, maintenance, stochastic control, optimization
First, a probabilistic model describing random deterioration of a health index of pumping wells in water resource is newly proposed, in which the health index represents ability of water intake amount for pumping wells. Next, an optimal cleaning strategy is formulated so that expected total cost is minimized. Then, the well-known stochastic control theory is applied to derive a variational equation for the optimal cleaning strategy. Finally, through numerical calculations, the optimal maintenance plan with cleaning efforts is quantitatively discussed.
