[VII-13] Study of Acute Toxicity Test of De-icing and Melting Snow Agent on Eisenia fetida (Earthworm)
Keywords:acute toxicity test, Earthworm, median lethal concentration, artificial soil, de-icing agnet, melting snow agent
The use of de-icing or melting snow agent has been common in areas where snow or ice is a seasonal roadway for safety hazard. Otherwise, little has been reported on the influence on soil animal.
We performed 14-day acute toxicity tests using the artificial soil in reference to TG207. In this study tested Calcium chloride, Sodium chloride, Mixtures of Sodium chloride and Propionic acid in a 8:2 weight ratio (hereinafter called the Mixture). As a result, median lethal concentration (LC50) for Eisenia fetida was 8.96 g/kg of Calcium chloride, 4.32 g/kg of Sodium chloride, 3.83 g/kg of The mixture. Therefore, we compared the test result and the knowledge gained from this study.
