[VII-136] Stady of Bentonite Pellet Backfill Method by Screw Conveyor

The construction metods of pellet backfilling have been proposed as an engineered barrier for safe disposal of high level radioactives. Bentonite pellet backfill method is one of the most dominant candidate of disposal method. Permeability of bentonites are known correlation with density. High density engineered barrier can collateral high barrier performance. In this paper, a temporary space is backfilled by the high-density bentonite pellets (Made of mori et al.) with injecting screw conveyor, and the engineered barrier density is confirmed to achieve more than 1.37 Mg/m3.
