[VII-145] Swelling characteristics of bentonite buffer with temperature from high level radioactive waste
Keywords:geological disposal, high level radioactive waste, bentonite, temperature, temperature change
Bentonite is used as a buffer material for geological disposal. Bentonite is expected to suppress ground water during disposal, fill gaps with rock formation during construction, and self-seal against cracks by exhibiting remarkable swelling behavior and low water permeability. However, the waste generates heat of about 100 ° C at the time of disposal, and it is necessary to understand the influence of the heat on the swelling characteristics of the buffer material. In this study, we investigated the influence of temperature history and temperature change of pore water on the swelling pressure characteristics of bentonite.
