[VII-37] Consideration for countermeasure against foam formation caused by discharge water into the ocean

Air entrainment at discharge channel or its outlet would cause a lot of form formation, when oceanfront plant discharges directly into the ocean. The design doesn’t usually take into account form formation containment, and there’re many cases countermeasures against form formation were conducted after its problem arose. However, in many cases, those countermeasures are required maintenances for a long time. This study shows the design problem of the form formation case, and available countermeasures. As a result, it is indicated there’re some cases redesign countermeasures is cheaper than without redesign, and it is confirmed form formation evaluation at the design is necessary.
