[CS2-31] The Anisotropy of Shear Wave Velocity Observed for Elongated Particles
キーワード:Granular material, Shear wave anisotropy, Particle orientation, Disk transducer
Natural granular soils comprised of non-cohesive particles display stiffness anisotropy due to fabric-induced anisotropy of soil structure. However, the mechanisms of fabric-induced anisotropy have not been thoroughly discussed in previous studies.
This study focuses on the influence of particle orientation on the anisotropy of shear wave velocities (vs), and the elongated granular material, wild rice, was tested with the help of a newly developed cubical box.
The experimental results show that particle orientation has obvious influence on VS anisotropy of granular materials. When the particle orientation is fixed, shear wave is the fastest when it propagates along the particle major axis.
