This study presents a precise numerical simulation on the seismic behaviors of a large-scale cable-stayed steel bridge using numerous FE shell models that are able to capture the local, yet critical buckling effect in thin-walled stiffened girders and towers, compared with the conventional fiber models. Parallel computing using the Domain Decomposition Method (DDM) algorithm with the aid of supercomputers is adopted for increasing the computation efficiency. Static pushover analysis is conducted to identify the damage/failure modes, locations and sequences for various bridge components.
