A typical repair method for fatigue cracks in steel bridge members is the splice plate method. The crack tip is drilled out, and splice plates are added over the crack. For this method, it is important that stress concentrations at drilled hole are sufficiently mitigated to prevent crack propagation again. The performance of the repair method like this often verified by FE analysis, however, there is no standardized analysis method. The purpose of this study is to provide and verify the simplified analysis method for drilled holes with splice.
