This paper reports the design procedures and the outline of construction for rigid frame 2- I girder steel Bridge, Shirotagiri Viaduct located in Niigata prefecture of Jyoshin-etsu Expressway. This bridge adopted new-type rigid structural detail connected with steel main girder and RC abuts using 2 PBL and bearing plate to improve maintainability and concrete workability. Due to longer span for the same type rigid frame I girder bridge than ever before, the stability of erecting girder is verified analytically.
