急峻谷地形の堰堤および落石防護擁壁には土石流・巨石対策として，天端部に防護柵が設置されることが多い．防護柵の鋼製支柱に関する根入れ深さの設計は，落石対策便覧に基づき静的に行われている．本研究では，落石防護擁壁上に設置する防護柵支柱の合理的な設計法を確立することを目的に，支柱をコンクリート躯体に貫通させた試験体に関して載荷位置の異なる重錘落下試験を実施した．
