[I-419] The measurement of existing orthotropic steel decks with mortar-filling into the trough ribs from underneath

On the Hanshin Expressway, fatigue cracks have been found on weld bead in orthotropic steel decks, and mortar-filling method has been proposed as a retrofitting method from the underneath without traffic restrictions. It is revealed the mortar filling on the inner surface of the trough rib reduces the stress around the weld bead by wheel load running tests and FE analysis . On the other hand, the stress state in the existing orthotropic steel decks using the mortar-filling method has not been clarified.
In this paper, the stress reduction effect of the mortar-filling method was clarified by measuring the stress of the existing orthotropic steel decks using the mortar filling method.
