In the current design codes, conservative load values, which are referred to as characteristic values, are used because of a lack of statistical data. However, for the assessment of existing structures, they might result in uneconomic maintenance decisions. Therefore, the load model for the assessment should be estimated by using observation data, which can reflect actual conditions on the structures. This study proposes methodologies to estimate probabilistic live load models on road bridges using WIM data. And the effect of the proposed models is compared with that of the Eurocode model.
