[I-53] Fatigue properties of out-of-plane gusset joint tested with plate-bending fatigue test machine

Recently, plate bending fatigue test machine was developed and many fatigue test data have been obtained.However, recent study reported that the fatigue strength of out-of-plane gusset welded joints obtained using that machine was relatively lower than fatigue strength obtained from cyclic tension fatigue tests.This study focused this difference of fatigue strength obtained from plate bending fatigue test and tension fatigue test,and discussed the reasons of the differences in the view points of the definition of nominal stress in the plate bending fatigue tests and the differences of stress concentration at weld toe due to the differences of sizes of specimens used for those tests.
