[II-176] Observation and Analysis on Cooling Convection during Early Autumn in a Stratified Reservoir

Vertical mixing due to water surface cooling has a significant impact on water environmental problems in reservoirs. In this study, lake water flow by water surface cooling was observed and analyzed at Isawa Dam Reservoir during early autumn considering thermal stratification conditions. As a result, large fluctuation of velocity was observed in the epilimnion. A simple plume model was applied to the stratification condition. Correspondence of time and depth of the horizontal flow between the observation and the analysis indicated the validity of our hypothesis.
