Keywords:Dry and wet cycling characteristics , Alluvial clay

In the chemical soil improvement of soft alluvial clay ground, especially in the case of shallow layer improvement, the rain and the fluctuation of the groundwater level cause repeated dry and wet condition in the ground improvement part. It is also known that when performing chemical ground improvement, the sedimentary environment, such as the content and type of organic matter, its water content, the type of clay mineral contained, affects the improvement strength. In this study, we focused on bentonite, Ariake clay and Hasuike clay, and examined the effect of repeated drying and wetting when adding solidifying components such as cement, quicklime and gypsum.
