As a quality control method of rock bolts, which are one of the tunnel support, rock bolt pull-out tests have been conducted to confirm the adequate anchoring power of the rock to the ground. In this test, a predetermined tensile load is applied directly to a lock bolt to confirm that the lock bolt does not pull out and that the load-displacement curve show elastic behavior. The conventional equipment used in this test is so heavy, and the pressurizing work is hard labor. Therefore, the working efficiency is poor and there is a problem in the safety at the time of working. In order to solve these problems, a new lightweight and compact lock bolt pull-out tester has been developed.
