Keywords:Driven Pile, Load Test, Pile Driving Analyzer, Geotechnical Capacity

In the South-East Asia region, driven piles using RC piles or PC piles are often selected for building foundations except for foundations in crowded or dense urban areas. Termination criterion of the driven pile is to be controlled by pile penetration per pile hammer impact (so-called "final set"), and the pile geotechnical capacity and the pile integrity is to be assessed by Static Load Test and/or High Strain Dynamic Load Test (i.e., PDA; Pile Driving Analyzer). This paper discusses and reports excessive/unexpected settlements and decreases of the geotechnical capacity of the driven piles, which were installed into residual soils in Malaysia, after PDA and its causes.
