[III-396] Proposal of A Calculation Formula for Ultimate Bearing Capacity at Cuttting Edge of Pneumatic Caisson
Keywords:pneumatic caisson, excessive sinking, resistance of cutting edge, ultimate bearing capacity, analysis experiment, finite element method
The work of sinking a pneumatic caisson is done by excavating the soil around the cutting edge, reducing the resistance at the cutting edge. However, if the resistance force assumed at the cutting edge is not actually exerted, the settlement will be larger than expected. In particular, excessive sinking in soft ground may lead to an accident, so it is very important to estimate it accurately when planning. Therefore, the authors conducted a pneumatic caisson settlement analysis experiment using the finite element method, and based on the obtained results, proposed the ultimate bearing capacity formula at cutting edge that will be easy to use.
