In order to solve the problems associated with the increase of senior drivers on expressway, as one of the supports for them, we tried a measure of improving parking lots layout to reduce traffic accidents in rest areas. Senior drivers face a problem in that they cannot park and depart smoothly and there is also a risk of contact accidents when walking in parking lots. Therefore, we set up one row of parking lots as "caring parking lots" which enables them to park preferentially. As a result of a survey, parking and departure time was reduced by 10% by using one row of parking lots. However, 25% of senior drivers over 70 replied that they do not use the caring parking lots.
