[V-644] A study on effect of applied cyclic loads to failure modes and residual shear strengths of RC beams without stirrups based on the shear resistance mechanisms

This paper aims to make clear the effect of applied cyclic loads to failure modes and residual shear strengths of RC (reinforced concrete) beams based on the shear resistance mechanisms. As a result of finite element analyses, when the upper limit loads exceeded static strengths of the beam action, the residual shear strengths of RC beams were reduced compared with the static strength even if the load amplitude was 16 % for the static strength under 2000 cycles. In contrast to the residual strengths of beam action, the residual strengths of arch action were considerably reduced even if the upper limit load ratio was less than 20 %.
